What LEVEL 2 means for Youthtown
Dear parents and caregivers,
Yesterday’s announcement by the Prime Minister about our ability to move to Level 2 is extremely encouraging. Our staff have missed working with all of our young people and we are excited about the prospect of a new normal and seeing our participants again.
We are working with schools directly to ensure we co-operate with them on our start up for Term 2 as well as ensuring we comply with their specific protocols. As starting dates for After School Programmes may vary from site-to-site, we will be in touch with the families of regular participants as soon as we have dates confirmed. As there is still some uncertainty over opening dates for all sites, we are still taking bookings according to the instructions on our website. Please give us a call if you need assistance.
Our Youthtown programme spaces will be safe environments for our tamariki, rangatahi and staff. We have developed detailed policies and procedures based on the best available advice. Public health measures will be put in place to minimise the risk from Covid-19. We know physical distancing will be challenging, making good hygiene practices and regular cleaning even more important. We will also have comprehensive registration measures to ensure we can contact trace if required. All of our staff will be going through health and safety training this week in preparation for our programmes reopening.
We are equally excited that we can soon resume youth team activities in sports and recreation. Further information will be shared by our Programmes team in due course. We will be continuing to support Youthtown Connect and I am sure you have all enjoyed seeing our awesome teams online!
Levels 3 and 4 have been a unique and challenging time for us all. We have received a number of messages of support from the families we work with. I want to acknowledge the vital role you have all played in helping us get to this point where restarting programmes is possible. We are hopeful that our combined efforts will enable a smooth transition back into programmes provided by Youthtown.
